The Endoscopy Unit is a diagnostic unit catering to patients with conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract through the use of special types of endoscopes. An endoscope is a long and slender tube instrument attached with a tiny camera, which allows the physician to view the internal organs outside the body on a viewing monitor.
Endoscopy is the insertion of a long, thin tube directly into the body to observe an internal organ or tissue in detail. It can also be used to carry out other tasks, including imaging and minor surgery.
Endoscopies are minimally invasive and involve openings of the body such as the mouth or anus.
Our Endoscopy unit offers the following services:
- Gastroscopy- A procedure that uses an endoscope to look inside the esophagus, stomach and the first part of the small intestine.
- Colonoscopy – A procedure that examines the large intestines and rectum .
